Are you wondering why your roof isn’t performing up to your standards? Maybe it’s deteriorating faster than expected? You should look into the concept of Owens Corning’s Total Protection Roofing System®. This three-in-one roofing system from Owens Corning consists of three parts that work together—a waterproof barrier, a layer that resists weather, and an attic ventilation system.
At All States Home Improvement, we’re here to discuss what this means for you.
Seal
The Total Protection System’s first layer is a barrier that expels water and protects the roof from ice damming and water accumulation. Contractors do this by properly sealing each part, and Owens Corning makes this easier by providing ice and water barriers and a top-of-the-line underlayment.
Defend
The second layer consists of what Owens Corning refers to as the “defend” layer. After sealing, the next in line for complete roof protection is using potent adhesion and relevant products that could resist strong blow-offs and expel water away from the deck of your roofing. Doing so protects vulnerable parts of the system like the peaks and the eaves. At All States Home Improvement, we offer Owens Corning’s full line of shingle profiles and hip and ridge products.
Breathe
Once you seal and defend, you’ll need to give the roof some space to breathe. This is where the “Breathe” part of the Total Protection Roofing Systems comes in, which improves the airflow into the attic. This consists of intake and exhaust vents built into the system; the latter located near the ridgeline, while the former under the eaves. This reduces the accumulation of moisture and high temperature that may cause deterioration, damage, mold growth and ice damming. All these have a negative effect on the airflow of the attic.
