Windows That Work with Your Wallet

Window Replacement in Wichita, Kansas

These days, windows do more than simply bring light and airflow into a space; they even do more than provide curb appeal. Yes, they will reduce your monthly energy bills, make your home more climate-controlled, and increase the value of your home. But advances in window technology provide homeowners with ample benefits.

For example, when you live in Kansas, it can be easy to overlook reducing outdoor noise with new windows. Though you are likely not surrounded by honking car horns late at night, you may have a barking dog next door or a neighbor who loves to mow his lawn at 5 am on Saturdays. New windows can provide a renewed level of noise cancellation to keep you peacefully asleep, while wind gusts blow by.

You have more options than ever with a wide variety of features and window materials available to customize a new or replacement window to perfectly suit your needs.

The immediate cost savings far outweigh the short-term inconvenience. The sooner you replace your windows, the sooner you will begin enjoying their perks.

You’ll have a hard time finding a project that brings as many benefits and stretches your investment dollar further — than new windows installed by All States Home Improvement.

We Carry the Best Windows in The Biz

As the trusted dealer for top brands, we give you access to premium, custom products and guarantee flawless installation.

Each window we offer carries the NFRC label, the industry standard for energy efficiency. You can read more about the label and what it means for homeowners on our Reading the NFRC Label page.

Why Noise-Reducing Windows Are Important in The Midwest

Windows play a crucial role in mitigating intrusive sounds of howling winds and pounding rain of Kansas storms. The severe weather conditions can generate significant noise levels that may disrupt daily life and cause discomfort and lack of sleep. Top 6 Benefits to Upgrading Your Siding

If you’ve been considering upgrading your home siding, now’s the time! Winter is over, which means spring and summer are the time for home improvement projects and upgrades.

Installing new siding will make your home more attractive and increase its value, offer protection against moisture and rot, and improve its energy efficiency. When using a siding replacement company in Wichita like All States Home Improvement, the job is finished in under a week, so your home will have little to no downtime!

With so many benefits to upgrading your home’s exterior, here are some of the top reasons why:

Keep your home’s value up

Siding is the most visible part of your home, so it’s important to keep it in good condition. If you have siding that is cracked, damaged, or warped, this will devalue your home. Several studies say you can get up to 70% return on investment when it comes to new siding. Drastically increase the value of your home with new siding installation.

Improve the curb appeal of your home

To improve your home’s curb appeal, upgrading your siding is a good choice. It’s the first thing people look at and can make a huge difference in how attractive your home looks. With new siding comes with a fresh new paint job – you’ll be the best-looking home on the block, and your house will be looking good as new!

Protect against moisture

Moisture is one of the leading causes of siding failure. When water gets trapped in your homes’ exterior walls, it can lead to mold and rot, damaging your home’s structure and even making it smell bad. Upgrading your siding will keep moisture out so you don’t have to worry about any of these problems.

Increase your homes energy efficiency

If you want to increase your home’s energy efficiency, upgrade your siding! Installing high-quality siding can reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 50%. This means that if you spend $1,000 on electricity each year (that’s a low estimate) in heating and cooling costs alone, upgrading will save you around $500 annually!

Decrease maintenance expenses

Good quality siding should be extremely low maintenance. All States James Hardie Siding can be cleaned with a wet cloth – easy as that. It will last longer, requiring less upkeep. New siding should resist damage from bugs and animals, leading to less maintenance year to year. Shorten your home to-do list and have less stress when dealing with home ownership.

Make your house more weather resistant

When living in the Midwest we get hit with all four seasons. Extreme wind, hail and rain are all elements that can cause major damage to siding. Siding is a significant part of a home’s structure, and you want to be protected from any outside factors. Upgrading your siding now can save you from having to replace it later when it starts falling off or rotting during a time when you need protection the most!

All in all, replacing your siding is a smart investment. If you’re considering a new siding installation or just want more information about the benefits of upgrading your current exterior with new materials, contact All States Home Improvement today and schedule a no-obligation consultation.

Shingle Magic vs. Roof Replacement: Which One Do I need?

We recently rolled out a new product, Shingle Magic. A roof sealant with the latest ceramic technology to revitalize your roof.

A common question we get asked is, “Which one do I need? A full roof replacement or Shingle Magic?”. Your roof’s condition determines what services we recommend. But, looking into both is always a good idea.

Consider Shingle Magic if:

  • Your roof has minimal wear and tear
  • The coloring of your roof has faded
  • You want to improve the energy efficiency of your home
  • You want extra protection from hail and other Kansas weather elements
  • You want to improve the look of your roof

This product is designed to help protect asphalt shingles from the damaging effects of UV radiation, wind, and other environmental factors. It is applied in a thick coating to the shingles surface and helps keep them looking new for longer.

Shingle Magic can extend the life of your roof by 30 years. Have that safety net to lean back on, knowing your roof is protected from future weather damage or other major issues.

Reasons to get a roof replacement:

  • If you have extreme mold or mildew
  • If your roof has major storm damage
  • If your attic has substantial water damage
  • If your roof drainage system is not working properly

Your roof is an essential part of your home that keeps you safe from the elements, keeps your home insulated and ensures its longevity. Replacing a damaged or aged roof can also help improve its energy efficiency and reduce energy costs. Additionally, replacing your roof can help improve the value of your home, potentially increasing its market value.

How Much Would a New Roof Cost?

As with many home improvement projects, the price will vary greatly depending on the size of the job and the type of materials used. Spring Cleaning: How to Properly Clean Windows

Everyone knows the basic way to clean a window. Grab a paper towel, and Windex, and you’re good to go. Wrong!

If you want that deep clean, streak-free window, we’re here to give you tips and tricks on how to get it done the right way.

Follow these tips to deep-clean your window correctly:

  • Start from the top of your window and work your way down so if dust and dirt fall, you will clean it up later during your process.
  • Begin with a hot damp towel to remove that first layer of dirt. Then, you’ll start over again with cleaning products. If you haven’t cleaned your windows in a while, there will likely be a dark dirt film. You want to clean that up first before starting any other cleaning methods.
  • When cleaning the glass, use any window cleaning product with a squeegee. The squeegee is a game changer to having clean windows. You’ll have your window streak free, drastically reducing the cleaning time. Make sure to wipe off the access at the bottom of the window, so nothing drips down. Watch a tutorial here.
  • If you can, remove the screen from your window to get to those hard-to-clean spots.
  • Your window tracks and seals get gross and are the perfect holding place for dust, bugs, and gunk. Take an all-purpose cleaner and a skinny brush to scrub and clean the windowsill – wipe excess with a towel or sponge. Watch this quick video on how to do it. If you see excessive dirt, your window was probably not installed correctly. All States Home Improvement has the most detailed installers for Wichita window replacement.
  • Fill a squeezable condiments bottle with water to wash away dirt easily.
  • A hand steamer is a good option and investment to easily and quickly clean all the little cracks and crevasses around your window.
  • When was the last time you washed your blinds? Take them off your window, cover them in dawn power wash, and soak them in a bathtub for 15 minutes. Rinse and repeat until squeaky clean!
  • This tip may be obvious but don’t forget to clean the outside of your window if you can reach it! If your window is unreachable, try to get a power washer to clean the outside of the window.

If you have to deep clean more than every few months, you need to have a window replacement company come look at the overall condition of your window. All States Home Improvement has free, no-obligation consultations and specializes in window replacements. All States also provides services for siding, roofing and baths, call (316) 444-1220 to learn more.

Why Is My Roof Leaking? A Guide to A Leaky Roof

Leaky roofs can be caused by many issues, from poor installation to damaged shingles. It’s important to find the root cause of your leak before you can start to repair it.

In this blog you’ll learn how to not end up like this:

Some leaks go completely unnoticed and cause significant damage without you even knowing about it. Once a year you’ll want to have a professional come and scope out the condition of your roof especially after a big storm.

If you’re wanting to learn how to prevent a leak to save you from future headaches, make notes of these following items:

Common roof leak issues:

  1. Poor Installation: If your roof wasn’t installed correctly, it may be prone to leaks. This could be caused by improper flashing, or a lack of sealant around the edges. It’s important to hire a professional roofer to make sure that your roof is installed correctly.
  2. Age: Over time, the elements can take a toll on your roof. If your roof is old, there’s a chance that it may be weaker in certain areas or that shingles may have cracked or become loose. This can cause water to seep into your home. If your roof has not been replaced in over 20 years, it’s time for a new one.

If you’re dealing with these two factors, you need to look into a full roof replacement. Not sure how much that costs? Get a free estimate here.

  1. Damaged Shingles: Strong storms, high winds, and hail can all cause damage to your shingles, leading to leaks. Living in Kansas we experience these conditions on the regular and it’s important to inspect your roof for any signs of damage. If you have storm damage learn more about what to do next.
  2. Clogged Gutters: If your gutters aren’t cleaned regularly, they can become clogged with leaves, sticks, and other debris. This can cause water to back up and leak into your roof, leading to leaks.
  3. Poor Ventilation: Poor ventilation can also lead to roof leaks. If your roof isn’t properly ventilated, it can lead to a buildup of moisture, which can cause the roof to rot and eventually lead to leaks.

Once you know why your roof is leaking, you can take the necessary steps get it fixed and ensure that your home is safe and secure.

Instantly Upgrade the Look of Your Home In 2023 With New Window Replacement

“There’s a world out there. Open a window, and it’s there,” – Robin Williams.

What do health & new windows have in common?

Before we get into how new windows improve the look of your home – what about how new windows improve your health? When you think of becoming healthier, you mostly think of the typical goals of working out more and eating better. And given that it’s the new year, health is a major theme. But have you considered natural light as part of improving your health? Studies show that increasing access to natural light improves your mood and helps reset your circadian rhythm (the natural process regulating the sleep-wake cycle).

Windows create beautiful natural light in your home, help clean the air, make you feel connected to nature; the list of health benefits can go on! Now more than ever, new windows should be a priority for your home and health.

Upgrade the look of your home

Sometimes a little paint, new blinds and curtains could be enough to give your home a facelift. But consider the last time your home has gotten a real window upgrade. If it’s been more than 15 years, it’s definitely time for new ones. Window replacement is one of the most noticeable improvements (from the interior, exterior, and health-wise) you can make to your home. New windows that bring in lots of bright natural light can completely transform a space and give the illusion of your room being bigger than it actually is.

Save money in the long run

Windows are a fantastic investment in making your house look good while decreasing the cost of your energy bills. Energy-efficient windows reduce heat loss and improve the comfort of your home. The US Department of Energy estimates that approximately 30% of energy in the average home is lost due to inefficient windows and doors. Make your home more energy efficient, keep drafts out, and keep your home cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Tips To Maintain the Exterior of Your House This Winter

Here are a few simple tasks you can do to help maintain and extend the overall life and look of your house. Some want that quick fix, to hang up Christmas lights and call it good. You don’t just want your house to look pretty with lights at night but be proud of your home in the daylight too. Owning a home is a big investment that you want to keep in good condition year after year.

Keep up regular maintenance on your Wichita, Kansas home this winter

Owning a home is a big responsibility and investment, and you want to keep it looking nice. If you perform regular maintenance on your home, not only will it look better but investing in maintenance now, will avoid larger expensive repairs in the future. The last thing you want is for an issue to go unnoticed and have it snowball into a major expense.

Stay ahead of the winter storms this year by preparing your home for the chilly season. Ice, sleet, snow, wind, moister, etc. can cause significant damage to your home. Follow these tips to keep your home looking good and staying warm during and after this holiday season.

Keep your siding clean

Take the time to go around the outside of your house and inspect your siding and how it’s holding up. Look for cracks, swelling, rot, mold or separations in your siding. If you see any of those listed, call or contact All States to get a free consultation.

If you have recently installed vinyl siding or James Hardie Fiber Cement siding then you’re in luck. Both sidings require minimal monthly maintenance. If dirt or debris begins to build upon its surface, all it takes is a hose and a damp cloth and your vinyl siding will look factory fresh once again.

Check that your windows are working efficiently

Open your windows, clean, and wipe down the cracks and crevasses. This can make sure your windows fully close to keep the cold air out and the warm heat in. This is also a good time to make sure all your window seals are still in place and functioning correctly. Close and lock your windows to make sure they are secure for the winter. If you are experiencing a draft or moisture in the window, it’s probably time to invest in new windows.

Double-check that the area around your window and windowsill is clear. This will prevent from any outside moister latching on to anything inside your home that could cause internal damage.

Is your roof in good shape?

Who are we kidding, December isn’t a time to prepare for inclement weather, it’s to prepare for the guy in the big red suit to come down your chimney. But take a little time to look at your roof, while hanging those lights, or schedule an inspection to look for rust, missing, broken, or curling shingles. If you believe your roof is damaged contact us for a free consultation.

You should be checking your roof and gutters every few months. Once the leaves are off the trees, that’s a good indicator to check your roof, gutters, and downspouts. Granules in the downspouts can be a sign your roof needs repair. Clear out any leaves and debris to prepare for the heavy winter storms so everything can drain properly. Gutters that are backed up cause overflowing that then leads to water draining down your home – eventually leading to the deterioration of your home’s exterior. It can also lead to deterioration of your foundation, water infiltration in the basement, and settling on your porches, patio, and walkways.
