New Windows: What to Expect

You’ve taken the plunge. You painstakingly researched your options, balanced your budget, and finally selected new windows for your home. You’re thrilled to start reaping the benefits of a cozy, energy-efficient home. But first, you must endure the installation process. Never fear! We’ve put together this guide to help you understand what to expect and how to be prepared for installation day.

After making your new window selection, the first step is to allow our team into your home to take precise measurements of each window. Once this process is complete, your custom windows will be manufactured to meet your home’s exact requirements. Soon our team will be in touch to schedule a convenient day and time for installation. In most cases, our installers can complete a replacement window installation of ten windows in one to two days, and we are equipped to install windows in any season or weather. In extreme conditions, we will be in touch to identify alternative options.

How to Prepare for Installation

Our team will need to access your windows from the inside and outside. Therefore, you will need to clear a path around your windows both on the interior of your home as well as the exterior. Remove curtains, drapes, blinds, and shades and move furniture away from the windows. Don’t forget to move obstacles such as grills, flower boxes, furniture, equipment, vehicles, and decorative items outside your home as well. You may also need to trim hedges and trees to allow better access to the windows.

Window installation can shake your walls and rattle things in your home. To avoid accidents, remove pictures from adjacent walls and move fragile items from nearby shelves for safekeeping. If you have any security system features on your windows, be sure to remove them before installation to avoid startling alarms. Lastly, find a safe place for your pets and children to prevent delays and reduce hazards. Remember to gather any toys or essential items so you won’t have to disrupt the team during installation.

The day before your scheduled installation, one of the associates at All States Home Improvement will contact you to remind you of your appointment and answer any of your last-minute questions.

Installation Day

When our installation team arrives, they will work their way through your home, installing your new windows one at a time. This will limit the amount of hot or cold air entering your home and keep you comfortable despite the weather. Be prepared for a bit of noise and dust during the installation process. If you have scheduled calls for work, you may want to plan to take them elsewhere!

Window Trim

After installation, we will replace the trim around the window as well as new insulation to seal the windows for years of comfort and energy savings in your home. Be aware that the window trim will need to be painted after installation. We have worked with many Kansas painters, and we would be happy to recommend a quality painter in your area.

After Installation

When installation is complete, our team will complete a walk-through to assess each window. Be sure to open and close each window a few times and look for any potential issues. Don’t hesitate to point out any areas of concern or ask questions. Your satisfaction is our primary concern, and we won’t leave your home until you are thoroughly pleased with your new windows.
